William E. McDonald

William E. “Bill” McDonald, 45, of Decatur, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, January 4, 2026, in Van Wert, Ohio. William was born on February 10, 1980, to Cathleen R. (McDonald) Hockemeyer.

He worked for Almco Steel Products in Bluffton. He was also a lifetime member of the FOE Eagles 2653 in Decatur. He loved playing pool, going fishing and camping and loved the Indianapolis Colts.

Bill is survived by his mother and step father, Cathleen (Cat) and Don (Huck) Hockemeyer of Decatur; his children, Jediah McDonald, Sarena Camos, William McDonald all of Ft. Wayne, Sawyer Wayne Lee McDonald of Michigan; his significant other, Carrie Coon; her children, Addison & Keegan Coon all of Van Wert, OH; sister, Melissa J. Carroll of Huntington; step sister, Nikki (Matt) Morgan of Decatur; step brother, Jeff (April) Hockemeyer; Uncle Randy McDonald and Aunt Sandy Coleman; grandfather, Wayne Atkinson of Decatur.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Jean Atkinson and grandfather, Jacki Lee McDonald.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 11, 2026, at Haggard-Hirschy & Zelt Funeral Home. Please dress casual.

A Celebration of Life will follow at the Eagles Aerie, 1039 S 11th St, Decatur, IN.
